Duncan Chapel Mourns Melvin Pace, One of its Founding Commissioners

The Duncan Chapel Fire District Board of Fire Control is saddened to announce the passing of former chairman and one of the district’s founding members Melvin Pace during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the age of 91.

Commission Chairman Bill Addis said, “Public service was Melvin’s heart. Whether it was with Duncan Chapel’s commission or as a member or chairman of Greenville County Council, Melvin Pace was dedicated to serving his friends and neighbors. Public safety was his passion, and his efforts for the people of the northern part of Greenville County will be felt for years to come. Our hearts are heavy, and his loss will be long felt.”

Visitation will be Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 12:30 – 2:15 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Reedy River Baptist Church, 871 N Hwy 25 Bypass, Greenville, SC 29617.

  1. I had great admiration for Mr. Pace, as a public servant and as a servant to the Lord. He and my grandfather, Heyward Hitt, were very good friends throughout the decades and I was truly blessed to have known Mr. Pace,

  2. Prayers go out for Mr. Pace’s family and to Duncan Chapel Fire Department. He was a good man that served his family and community with honor.
